ON JULY 8, 2020, BRAD DILLON (JIM’S BROTHER-IN-LAW) SOUGHT TREATMENT FOR RECURRING PERSISTENT HEADACHES. OVER THE NEXT 48 HOURS, HIS MEDICAL TEAM WOULD DISCOVER THAT HE HAD A LARGE MASS ON HIS RIGHT FRONTAL LOBE. OVER THE NEXT WEEK, THEY WOULD DISCOVER THAT HE HAS GLIOBLASTOMA-MULTIFORME, AN AGGRESSIVE FORM OF BRAIN CANCER, AND WOULD RUSH HIM INTO SURGERY. WHILE BRAD’S SURGERY WAS SUCCESSFUL, GLIOBLASTOMA MULTIFORME IS AN AGGRESSIVE TYPE OF BRAIN CANCER WITH HIGH RECURRENCE RATES.
BRAD’S STORY
Brad Dillon is one of the most loyal and dedicated people we know. He always does his best to help others and has been an excellent brother, brother-in-law, and uncle to our family. Brad is thoughtful, kind, and incredibly funny. He is an amazing father, grandfather, brother, husband, son, and friend. Brad is an incredibly hard worker and owns his own landscaping business, but has been unable to work since his diagnosis as he is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.
THAT DAM SWIM FOR BRAD
This year, all proceeds from That Dam Swim will be donated to Brad Dillon and his family via his GoFundMe. Instead of our typical one day event, Jim will spend the month of September doing Wild Water swims (outdoor swims in lakes) and pool swims throughout Western North Carolina. His goal is to swim at least 4 miles a day, hoping for 120 miles in the month of September. Our hope is to have an auction at the end of September. If you have items or gift cards you are willing to donate, please contact us. If anyone wants to join him for a swim or help by paddleboarding, please contact Jim at:
